Mindfulness and Meditation Workshop

30th Jul 2015   published by: Kylie Blacksell

Do you sometimes find yourself putting the milk in the cupboard and your sunglasses in the freezer or something just like that?

Do you sometimes drive to somewhere and not remember how you got there?

Or do you sometimes start driving somewhere and then realise you’re heading in the wrong direction?

Do you need a list or a reminder for almost every task in your day to day?

Have you thought about meditation, but just can’t seem to get your head around it?

“It’s too hard to focus….too hard to sit still”….”There’s not enough time to do it in”…“Where do I start?”

If this is a “yes” then come to Kylie’s 3 hour Mindfulness and Meditation workshop that will get you on the right track with meditation.

And don’t worry if you can’t sit still, can’t focus, or if you usually get distracted or anxious when you try to sit still. This is all very normal. And there’s always a type of meditation that can be tailored to suit your needs at this time in your life.

Meditation doesn’t have to be just sitting still and thinking about nothing. There’s a multitude of types and styles, and levels of “activity” with meditation. You just need to find the one that’s right for you!

Also, mindfulness is only one of the many benefits of Meditation.

It has been scientifically proven that Meditation significantly improves your health, happiness, social life, self-control, brain function, and productivity. Kylie will take you through many of these benefits in more detail, and will also show you some very effective techniques to get you into the right mindset, and to relax your body enough to be able to successfully meditate.

Kylie will also show you carefully selected techniques from yoga, mudras (hand and body gestures), pranayam (breathing techniques), affirmations, light and sound therapy and many more disciplines, to bring you a tool box that you can employ whenever you wish to be in a good place, emotionally, physically and mentally, for meditation..

And of course, you’ll be introduced to some very simple yet very effective meditation techniques to get you started.

We would love it if you could join us.

Just bring a note pad and pen, a pillow to sit on (there are some chairs available if you prefer), a water bottle, and comfortable clothing for yoga.

Bookings are essential as there are limited spaces.

The first hour of each workshop is usually yoga, specifically formulated to tackle the issues in the theme of the workshop.

The last two hours are packed full of useful information about this topic, while we eat a yummy and healthy supper. (There is usually a worksheet to accompany this section).

6:30pm – 9:30pm Tue 4th Aug 2015

Cost = $5 to cover supper, printing and heating. (This is a pilot workshop and so is essentially FREE other than covering costs).

All bookings require a $5 non-refundable deposit. There are very limited places (14 in workshop space and 9 over SKYPE) so without payment, your place may be given to another.

Workshops are held at Unit 12, Birubi Chambers, 121 Hawker Pl. Hawker. This unit is right on the corner of Beetaloo st and Hawker Pl. Directly opposite the KFC Restaurant. There is a small “Human Happiness” sign at the door. There is ample parking across the road, next to KFC, disabled parking and access at Birubi Chambers, and a toilet inside the unit.
